The following are standards in the English department:
Essays: Essays will be written adhering to MLA format.  Students should expect to have to submit essays to Turnitin.com.  Essays will adhere to the department Do/Don’t sheet for essay writing. 


Cheating/ plagiarism:  In cases where students have cheated, all students involved will receive a zero on the assignment.  On cases of plagiarism of essays, all students involved (whether they copied the paper or provided the paper to be copied from) will receive a zero on the assignment and it will be noted in their school records to keep record in case of repeated offenses. 

Extra credit:  No student will be allowed to raise their grade more than 3% with extra credit.
